This self-paced course is designed for helpers who want to integrate SMART Recovery tools and approaches into their work, whether that’s facilitating a support group, supporting people in a clinical or community setting, or working one-on-one as a peer support specialist, social worker, or other helping professional.
The course prepares new facilitators to confidently lead SMART Recovery Family & Friends meetings, while also building skills that translate across helping roles. You’ll explore tools from the SMART Recovery 4-Point Program®, adapted specifically for families and loved ones.
This course is a good fit if you are:
-
A peer support specialist or recovery coach
-
A social worker, counselor, or clinician (MSW, LPC, etc.) working with families
-
A community helper supporting loved ones affected by addictive behaviors
-
Someone seeking practical, evidence-based tools grounded in empowerment and respect
Note: This course closely mirrors SMART Recovery’s standard Family & Friends facilitator training, with the added benefit of NAADAC-approved continuing education units (CEUs) for eligible professionals. If you don’t currently need CEUs, the standard Family & Friends course may be a great option. Both courses offer the same SMART Recovery–aligned tools and facilitator foundations.
