At this session, we’ll briefly review current trends and key statistics (including that approximately 6% of Oregonians are at risk), explore how gambling platforms impact the brain (variable reinforcement, near-miss effects, dopamine response), and discuss how these behaviors often surface alongside substance use.

We'll  focus on practical tools for SMART facilitators, including how to create safety and belonging for participants experiencing gambling-related challenges, what language to use (and avoid), and how SMART tools like planning and VACI can help address the underlying needs driving the behavior.
